Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Im thinking about in all the ways even streaming now. Im thinking before streaming the stooges would be a good contender. Was shown in movied theaters and had reruns going all the time on so many different channels. Its a wonder life used to be spammed in november and december before the ip was taken back out of public domain.

EDITING. Im thinking more about the same thing being rebroadcast I think which is why I was thinking its a wonderful life to. So like there are only so many stooges and they get replayed a lot as opposed to like the simpsons or doctor who running for a whole bunch of seasons.

Depends on what you call a show. A good contender is the German TV show "Unser Sandmännchen" (Our Little Sand Man). It is nearly as old as there is a TV program. It shows a little "good night" story each evening for little children using animated puppets.

It started 1959, is still running daily, and so far there are over 22000 episodes.

I love Lucy used to be on multiple stations multiple times a day. That has to be a contender.
I read that Tusk by Fleetwood Mac was the most played song because every high school and college marching band around the world loves to play it.

Mr Bean. Popular around the world and dialogue free, so no localisation costs. He's probably been seen more than any other single character as it's so easy for anyone to understand what's going on. Certainly a contender for most watched, but maybe not most played, as there's not as many episodes as many long running series, so you can watch every episode in a single day, rather than the weeks it would take to plod through the whole of The Simpsons.

I did not realize that was so globally popular. I did not even realize for a long time that the one version of black adder was mr bean.

I feel like Dyrdek's Ridiculousness is up there at least top 5 considering MTV was playing that show nearly 24 hours a day for years

I don't even know what that is.

It's Dyrdek and friends watching random internet videos and adding even more random commentary. MTV used to do rerun marathons everyday
